I will add as well that you do need to insert the IMEI number of the phone (at the website) before you start the activation process - as stated in the instructions.

I activated a SIM just yesterday (as the above manner) and it worked for me.

After you have entered the activation code (into the the correct field) you are then supposed to insert the SIM (into your phone) and turn it on. You need to make sure that you have a working signal before you click on the button (on the website) that activates your phone.

If your SIM package is still unopened (and you have the activation code) you should still be able to do this now (I am thinking) - at your own risk of course.

The instructions that come with the sim card specifically tell you to go to a speakout web page, choose activate sim card, and enter the activation code that's on the packet. It THEN instructs you to open the packet and put the sim card into the phone. They then activate the sim and you then add the air time you purchased.
That's why I have a sim in a sealed packet. What I don't have, thanks to the thieving practises of 7-Eleven, is a working sim card. I do have an airtime voucher which I cannot use since the phone won't work without an activated sim card.

I bought a sim card and $25 airtime voucher at the Oakville, Ontario 7-Eleven and when I tried to activate it, following their instructions, it returned the message, "activation number already used." After waiting almost half an hour on the Customer dis=-service line I hung up and drove back to the store. They wouldn't do anything for me despite the fact that the sim package was unopened and I had the receipt from the purchase three hours earlier. The activation number is printed on the OUTSIDE of the sim package so it appears someone else copied it and used it. The clerk said maybe the asst. mgr. could do something but he wouldn't be in until tomorrow. I'm now out $39.55 and have nothing to show for it but utter disgust with 7-Eleven and their total lack of customer support. Avoid this store like the plague!

I am confused.
If as you say "the fact that the sim package was unopened" how did you try to activate it ?

I am not savvy with these things , but I thought the SIM card had to be in the phone for activation .

It would also seem necessary to have an activated SIM card in a phone before SpeakOut could
add 'Air Time' from a voucher.

I dont like the 7-11 stores and reps. Most of them have not much info how to resolve the problem. All they want is pay the money and get the heck out of my shop. Like buying chips. Don't come back to complain.

All you can do is go to main web site and complain specific about that store and customer service.

You might get call back to find out the details.
