performance is only one aspect. For whatever reason, the Gio drain the battery at a much lower pace which is my number one concern.

I no longer has the Optimus One so can't tell how it performs with 2.3 but I have a Shine Plus that also has upgraded to 2.3 and find a lot of glitches that I don't like such as the push and background notification of IM doesn't work when the screen is off.

IOW, I am willing to pay more on the Gio just for the battery life and the background notification.

I have both and I have my reservation on "much faster", once the Optimus One updated to Gingerbread, it doesn't feel "much slower" than the Gio. One thing about the Bell Gio that I don't like is I have to root the phone in order to install FM radio and that void the warrenty. I think both are the same, depends on the price, the winner goes to whichever is cheaper.

I have been testing this phone for the past week or so and found it to be a big improvement comparing with the Optimus One I had before. Much faster and more importantly, unbelievable battery life.

I use my phone mainly as a messaging device(so my phone vibrate when I have email/im etc.). Today, I started out at 16% and it finally exhausted after 15 hours. So for my purpose, it can last for 100 hours or so(mostly wifi except 3G when on the road).

Also tried turning on the wifi-hotspot yesterday and it drained 25% in 5 hours. Which means I can use it when I am on the road and get a iPod Touch to mimic iPhone4.

Very satisifed with this device, it is quite light weight too, ~105g.
