Emailed SO, they sent me a second, "revised" code for unlocking - I followed the same steps and VOILA, on the screen appears the message: “ SIM / PHONE restriction OFF “;
No cables, no special software required, just the support from Askspeakout, done through Nokia Canada.
Maybe the not so great numbers(revenue) for Nokia worldwide with the fear of bankruptcy/takeover, changed their approach/mentality.

Now, the quad phone can be used to it's real value, not to mention you can change whenever you like the carrier!
