using Gio with SO, no data. everything works over wifi.

google navigation works if you pre-load the map at home, of course you don't get turn-by-turn but the GPS works(i.e. showing where you are on the map when you move).

the only complain I have about Gio is its GPS takes lots of time to lock, can be 20m+.

Good info, thank you. Now to find one on the cheap... seems like I missed all the good sales by a month

I'm new to smart phones and have been reading into them for the past few days. One thing I haven't managed to find a very good answer to is this:

If I pick up a Samsung Gio and throw my current SpeakOut SIM into it, will I still be able to use most features on the phone?

I know that GPS often requires map downloads over the cellular network, so those might not work, but what about everything else like Android market downloads and email over wifi? Most of the time I'd need that stuff, I'd have wifi available, so I don't see the point in a data plan, especially with the hassle of using SO's data plan with this phone (and the extra $10/mo.)

Thanks for any insight.
