After asking if he actually paid the $35 to have it unlocked by Koodo he informed that he did not. He thought that once the contract was up, then it was unlocked. We are going to phone Koodo today and see if we can get it unlocked.

But when I insert the 7-Eleven SIM card I get the "SIM Not Valid" message. I'm new to this service, what the heck am I doing wrong?
