i am 90% sure that 1900 mhz band is a typo, and should actually be 1800 mhz. I have never heard of any dual band GSM phone that had that combination of frequencies. It is either 850/1900 mhz for the North American market or 900/1800 mhz for the rest of the world.

SpeakOut/Rogers uses the 850/1900 GSM bands. 1900 is mostly used in urban areas, whereas 850 is used in rural areas.

According to the info at phonearena, that phone supports GSM 900 and 1900, and 1900MHz is one of the bands used in North America. Your best bet would be to borrow a SIM card from a friend, put it in the phone, and see what happens. It'll let you know if the cell provider for that SIM is detected. I'm not sure which frequencies are used by SpeakOut/Rogers.

I doubt the phone is locked. It is more likely the phone does not work with North American carriers, because the frequencies are not supported by this phone.

SpeakOut customer service will not help to unlock your non-SpeakOut phone bought in Asia. Your best bet would be just to google a site/paid service that would help.

I have an old dual sim phone from Asia I got quite some years ago and I was wondering if it can be unlocked to use with my SO sim here in BC, Canada?
If so, what are the methods to contact customer service to unlock our own phone?
