I have Logicmail installed on a BlackBerry Bold on Rogers with a full data plan and it will not connect using the data connection. I think if I remember from when I installed it, it was designed to only work on wifi.
It is quite handy for use with wifi -- as you can connect to more than one POP or IMAP mailboxes for quick mail checks while at Hotspots etc.

It appears that web browsing is the only service that works reliably with this low cost service. I have installed Opera Mini 5.2 beta, and it works fine. Bolt browser will not connect to the Internet, nor will Logicmail (an IMAP client that does not require BIS).

@rick, thanks for the heads-up about Logicmail. I successfully installed it and connected to two of my IMAP accounts (including gmail). I've got an 8520 so it may only work because I'm using a wifi connection at the moment. Next time I head out, I'll check to see if it connects via edge. I suspect it won't.

I bought an unlocked Blackberry 8700, and it had no browser icons, and it did not work with data at all. I upgraded the OS from 4.1 to 4.5, with the SIM in, and it came up with browser icons and 5 service book entries. The APN is blank. It appears that web browsing is the only service that works reliably with this low cost service. I have installed Opera Mini 5.2 beta, and it works fine. Bolt browser will not connect to the Internet, nor will Logicmail (an IMAP client that does not require BIS).

I have a BB 1820 and the wifi works great to surf the net.

Its unlocked - just got it and just got the data plan hooked up.

Can anyone tell me what they did to even get a browser running, the wap one ?

It would be nice to get push email, I hope there is some way to do this, or this is like a decade behind and I will just cancel it.
