You want to know why? That is the same reason why so many people love 7elevenspeakout: $25 last for 365 days, while most carriers need $100 for 366 days.

Although 7elevenspeakout charge more for 911 ($1.25 vs $0.75), which rib me $15 off from my $25, I still have $10 to play with. If I add money in time, unused amount can even be carried over.

I have phones everywhere. I have WiFi connections everywhere. The only chance that I use cell phone is on the road. I make only less than 10 calls a year, just for urgent quick call. Why should I pay more?!

Is there any reason why the OP is just considering Telus and Speak Out and not President's Choice Mobile?

The PC mobile should work right?

The Iphone 4 uses the micro SIM card size. PC Mobile only sells the regular size SIM card so you will need to trim it with a kitchen knife or a cut template but other than that, it should work.

Any thought on that?

the 403 area code is no good when it comes to registration. You need an US number. However, Google allowed an exception (on purpose of mistake, I am not sure) that allows calls to your Google Voice US number to forward to Calgary 403 numbers Great if you have a Calgary number. Fortunately, a Canadian VoIP provider, Freephoneline.ca offers free Canadian numbers, Calgary being one area. Even better, you can forward those numbers to most city centers in Canada.

If you get it setup, and live in Toronto as an example, the forwarding works like this. Someone calls your US Google Voice number, which is forwarded to your Calgary Freephoneline number, Freephoneline forwards to your Toronto number. Fun eh? You can set up Google voice to do jajah type calls, which is great if you have a phone plan that has unlimited incoming calls.

Voice quality is not 100%. Google Voice calls tend to be laggy, But it is free and it works. The freephioneline leg seems to work well though.

I found more use out of the SMS part of Google voice myself.

It hasn't. You need to register using an American IP address, and have an American number. Hotspot shield and voxox can help you there. An Amerifriend works also. After you register, Google does not hassle you on where you live after registration.

If you get a better signal from Rogers, get Speakout. Things you can do on a browser, works with Speakout. As an example, I use Google Voice for SMS, that saves $10 a month. Gmail for mail, Meebo or Ebuddy for messaging, etc. Anything that uses ports other than http and https port 80 will not work.

250 MB does not last long. I much prefer hobbled unlimited browsing. But the most important thing is how good your signal is! That is the biggest consideration, IMHO.

As for a SIM, apparently you can talk to a Speakout CSR, and they will mail you, or your 7-11 store for $25

Hello,
Currently I have a unlocked iPhone 4. I'm looking for a cheap Data + Text Messaging plan. After doing some research, I came to a conclusion, Telus Data + Messaging 20 or Speakout Unlimited Mobile Browsing and 2,500 text messages. My Concern is whether Speakout will work with my iPhone 4.

Specs for Each Plan

                             Telus, Speakout
Data Included 250mb, Unlimited
Text Messages Unlimited, 2,500
Rate/Min 20cents, 25 Cents
Fees $0.75 (911), $1.25 (911)

Preference:
I COULD use 250mb, But I would perfer unlimited, just to be safe
I want to be able to use MOST applications, such as mail, facebook, safari, IM Clients
I use approx 2000 Text messages a month
Speakout (ROGERS) has the best reception in my area, Telus is very weak.

Which plan should I go with?
How will I get a SIM card from speakout? Note: I will be able to cut the sim card if Needed
What things are blocked on Speakout?
