Had this happen to me on my Samsung Galaxy S2. Turned out it was an incompatible radio. Flashed it to a telus radio (from T-Mobile) and phone worked fine again. Had used this radio since December so must have been a change on the network side that triggered the issue.

My phone (Samsung Gio) has been working fine for a couple of years. Today it has a message that it has an unregistered SIM and when I restarted it it asked for a "network lock control key". I have a balance on my prepaid account that doesn't expire for six months so it shouldn't be a problem with my account expiring. Anybody have any ideas?
