before expiration, i could NOT read or send facebook messages. I could download some small apps.

AFTER expiration and new renewal, i can send and read facebook messages, but i cannot download any apps whatsoever anymore.

You can post on facebook and read other peoples posts, but you can't message people and your phone won't alert you of new posts to your wall. Twitter works well, again without alerts.I don't believe MSN works, but without alerts those sort of apps are pretty useless unless you are going to leave it open all day. Honestly I have found very few apps that won't work. If you can live without notifications you wont have a problem. The only other issue is that the only email service that works is gmail.

Speakout's data runs through a proxy and a number of features like notifications and VOIP will not work. For someone like myself that uses the data side of his phone more than the actual phone and texting features, I am able to run my iphone at well under $15 per month.

Is Speakout right for you? All depends on how much you talk on the phone and text. If you are a big tal/text user, there are probably better plans out there with unrestricted data. For someone like me, it works out well as we are not forced to pay high monthly rates for talk and text that we rarely use.

However, I just want to make something completely clear.

If I use an unlocked iPhone 3GS with a SpeakOut SIM card, that:

-has the unlimited browsing feature enabled
-is set up via the forum about the iPhone Configuration Utility

... will I get the same 3G data plan service on my iPhone that I would otherwise receive through another service provider, such as Rogers or Bell?
