i believe you misunderstand proxy.

https is END to END(from your program to the final destination). There can be lots of proxy that is already in between which you don't know about.

So there is no security issue of autoproxy unless you assume it is coming from crooked source.

Yes you are right.
I thought about getting the 200 Minutes + Unlimited Browsing & Texting plan.
I want to use it mainly for texting in Canada and whatsapp to stay in contact easy with my family/friends @ home.

Advantage of SevenEleven is if I understand correct
that I can cancel the monthly plan when I leave the country and the SIM Card remains active for up to one year. So I do not have to get a new sim/phone number every time
.
I still need to find a HTTPS proxy to use.
The autoproxy tool in the link you gave me uses http proxy - so not very secure.

Dietmar, be careful how much you talk using Speakout. At 25 cents/min. it can get expensive. Look at their Value Plans, where for $20 per month, you get 200 minutes of talk. That's 10 cents/min. - a huge discount. It all depends on how much talking you plan to do.

aah .. seems the prepaid plans in germany are different. Our internet plans are restricted on data volume only. No port restrictions. Got to look into rooting the phone I guess.

what about phoneing? What is the difference from local and long distance. I will be in Oshawa. Will calls to Peterborough or Toronto be considered long distance?

As I understand it, that depends on what area code you get your sim for but likely yes to both of them. Oshawa is 905/289 area code, Peterborough is 705, Toronto is 416/647/437. Any calls within your are code are not long distance, outside of that are long distance.

OK, just to be more clear. I'm not sure about Whatsapp as I don't use it. And Hotmail seems to be acting strange on my Galaxy S2. But Gmail and Yahoo Mail work fine.

Remember that this is a web browsing plan, and not all apps will work. But most will. It may be necessary to use an autoproxy in order to get some apps functional. This means, of course, that your phone must be rooted.

I have an unlocked Samsung Galaxy S3 Android (Germany). As I understand I would need to cut the SIM card to the micro size that I can put it in the phone? I will use the phone mostly for texting and internet e.g. Facebook, Hotmail or Whatsapp applications.

Any idea if it will work?
