But no one be 100% unless they have that exact same device and tried that before

Thanks for your reply.

I don't think I was impatient if it took me about 10 hrs, LOL. But I was tenacious.

As I said the previous owner never got it to work. All the instructions found here really apply to cellphones, but some such as the "rogers-core-appnl1.apn" had to be used also, but no port sttings. One website I think helped me was the SaskTel setup website for the sam device. Seeing what was to be entered got me on the right path.

As a matter of fact I did take screenshots of every setting that I made after it was working.

I''ll relax the rest of the long weekend before tackling this next project.

You should not lose any APN settings removing the battery and SIM. Just make sure the unit is powered down before you take out the SIM card (Duh)

If I was super paranoid, I would copy down every setting I put in, but that is probably unnecessary.

I think most of your problems were that you were too impatient. There is a lot of powering down and waiting, and that is assuming you got everything set up properly. I have has numerous devices that used the old settings, even when I saved the new ones. So a power down and waiting for the device to do it's thing is almost mandatory

I have a question I am not sure of what may/will happen.

It took me a very long time (appr. 10 hrs) to set up my new to me Novatel 2372 MiFi hotspot to work with the SIM card on Speakout with the data plan. The former owner could never get the 2372 to work with SO.
Since it is NOT a cellphone, it took a lot of playing with settings to finally get it to work with SO.

If I were to remove the battery and the SIM card from the unit, would I lose all the settings I worked so hard for? This should not make a difference whether it is done with a WiFi hotspot or a normal cellphone I think.

Why do I want to know? I want to try the SIM card in another device to see if I can get it to work there also. I am not sure if the settings are saved in the device or the SIM card. I do know phone numbers can be stored on the SIM card.

If anyone can shed some light on this I would appreciate it..
