Thanks for the feedback from both. I almost had deleted the android email client in my Samsung Galaxy S2 after I rooted it because I was not using it, now I'm glad I didn't. I was able to set it up using the instructions for Exchange and it's working.

It depends on the application. In a technical sense, you can never get true push email with Speakout data. But with the default email client that comes with my Nokia E71, the email client, through HTTP(S), polls the mail servers I set up every 5 minutes or so, to see if there is new mail. If you have an application that can do that, you would have yourself some pseudo push email that does the same job. The question is, do the other phones have the same type of email client that can do that? I am sorry I cannot help you there.

I have just done a search of the forums and I am still confused. It looks like some people have been able to use the Android Gmail client, while others can only access Gmail via browser. I seem to be able to access https, but cannot get anything via the gmail client. I assume if I could, then I could also use other features such as voice recognition that uses the Google speech engine via your Google account.

Hi, I have a samsung galaxy s 2, and I got it rooted and have installed ASProxy for other things, but I can't seem to get push email working. Or really the regular gmail client, I have to bookmark gmail.com and check thru there.

Anyone know if there is a way to either, emulate push by refreshing the page automatically every 10 / 30 minutes and play a sound when you get new mail, or by enabling push support?

Thanks a bunch.
