no.

you call them to activate the new micro-sim and tell them that you want to transfer your current number(they may ask for sim info) to it.

after it is done, you swap the card, nothing else needs to be done other than that.

Thanks so much, that's the info I was hoping to know.

So, I'm guessing that when I insert the replacement SIM in my iPhone 4S, after having taken out the flakey SIm, I'll be prompted, during the activation process, to enter my current Speakout phone number and then the account info will be transferred to the new SIM. Is that how it works?

No. Porting involves moving your number from one provider to another. When you transfer your account/airtime to a new SIM card, all info is transferred, and you won't lose your balance.

It seems my SIM card is becoming flaky on my iPhone 4S. I've been using the same SIM in this 4S for about a year but twice recently I've gotten the error message 'invalid SIM' and had to take the card out and put it back in to get things working with the phone again.

So I'm thinking of replacing this SIM with a new one. What I can't seem to find is the process for porting my current speakout phone number to the new SIM card. Can it be done? Or do I have to start using a new phone number?

Also, I guess I will lose all my airtime if I start using a replacement SIM in my current phone, is that right?
