Ztar Mobile runs both 7-11 SpeakOut and Petro-Canada Mobility, and up until a 2 weeks ago they had similar phones (except the lowest-end PetroCan phone was an old Nokia that 7-11 no longer sold).

Petro-Canada Mobility was having a sale for a few weeks now (not as good as the 7-11 sale IMO), and my guess it was to help clear out the old stock since they have replaced their low-end phone with a new one, and their old mid-range model is now in 'limited supply'.

At the same time that was going on, 7-11 SpeakOut is also having a sale, perhaps to get rid of existing stock to prepare for the same new phones that their sister company has recently introduced.

But this is all a guess, we'll see what happens either later this month, or in early April.

The Nokia 1208 is the new low-end 7-11 phone. It seems similar to the Nokia 1600, but it claims to have phenomenal battery life at 7hrs talk time. The only real feature listed for this phone on the PetroCan site include a built-in flashlight (which I'm sure will end up being useful when you least expect it). As well, according to the Nokia site, the 1208 has something called "Pre-paid Tracker* you can view your pre-paid account balance information whenever you need".

The Nokia 2630 slides in at the $100 price point. The screen is larger than the 2610 it replaces, and gets rid of the mirrored finish that many people have complained about. Battery life is almost as great as the 1208, and it includes Bluetooth and a built-in FM radio. It's about half as thin as the previous 7-11 phones, and is really lightweight as well. It also has a built-in camera, but the resolution is VGA so the pics are not going to be good for much.

In fact, according to the PetroCan website, the 2630 is available right now, so perhaps 7-11 stores will get it soon as well? Maybe in time for people to buy the new phone and take advantage of the $25 off deal?
