If E series has this Nokia messaging thing, it should work(assume it is the same application).

Note that this 'push' email as far as I can tell doesn't relies on the provider. It is being aggregated by Nokia then push to you.

can't say on other smartphone. It still boils down to the application. My guess is Nokia Messaging is using nothing but 80/443 to connect to its aggregate server and that is why it works or that it is using IMAP/POP port that is not blocked by Rogers. People are saying iPhone also can talk to gmail using the 'exchange' setup which I assume is IMAP/POP

So the cost for this service is just the use of UMB?

Does this mean that I could pick up a Nokia E series phone which is a beefier version of this phone and have push based email or does this phone have some sort of special porting that allows for this feature?

And that takes it to the next question, since push email works on this, can I make it work on any smartphone?

yes, the Nokia messaging(i.e. ovi mail and IM) on C3 can handle gmail/live/yahoo over UMB/Wifi and it is 'push' based. though gmail is fast and live is 'never work'. C3 is a very comprehensive communication device, covers all three major form and works over UMB.

Hello everyone.

I've been running with a Nokia 5130 since when it came out brand new in august 2009. I gave up on browsing on the tiny screen a long time ago. Although it's been a great video player for occasional viewing when munching on lunch.

I'm curious as to how the ovi mail works on the Nokia C3.

Does anyone have it installed? Is it realtime notification of emails? How does the cost structure work? Is it limited to the C3, or can it work with nokia phones, or even a smart phone?

Very curious.
