You can adjust the speakerphone volume (or normal earpiece volume) by pressing the right directional button to turn the volume up, or the left directional button to turn the volume down.

As far as I know, you can only adjust the volume during a call.

I'm learning GSM as well. I was with CDMA carriers (Clearnet/Telus & Bell) for over 10 years. Now that I am with Speak Out, I know what a SIM card is 🙂 I pretty much got the hang of it though.

Welcome to the site.

Yes - this worked too. I really appreciate your help on both of my questions, and for this forum too. Already I have learned a lot of helpful things that would have taken me quite a while (as well as airtime) to figure out on my own. Thanks.

On the bottom right of the screen, during a call, it says "Loudsp." That is to toggle the volume through either the earpiece or the speakerphone. You can toggle using the button above the "End Call" red button.

Thanks for your reply. This worked - I was able to adjust down the volume on the speakerphone - and it was during a call. I still have that other open question, though. Do you happen to know if I can turn off the speakerphone completely on the Nokia 1208 and just listen via the earpiece? I assume that this can be done - for both privacy and courtesy reasons. I don't hear it when other folks are using their phones. But then again this is my first cell phone in about six years (yup!).

On the Nokia 1208 - how does one adjust the speakerphone volume? And is there a way to turn it off and just use the earpiece? Thanks for your help - the documentation that came with the phone is so limited. Thanks.
