An unlocked GSM smart-phone should work with SpeakOut as far as talking and texting goes. Keep in mind that SpeakOut is a 2G provider, and does not have a data plan, just an unlimited browsing package.

I was hoping someone could provide some info on using unlocked smartphones on SO.

But, specific phones, such as the HTC One X or Galaxy SII or even S3 (not released as of this post).

I was especially curious about the HTC One X because a family member is using one. I know these phones are expensive month-to-month but I don't want to be locked in 3 yrs. Also, I am curious what features will work if you use it unlocked with SO. What limitations might you have?

Does anyone plan to buy a newer smartphone to use with SO or thinking about it? Or do you just know the info about using smartphones with SO? If so, PLEASE REPLY!

Btw, I bought the 'lowest of the line' SO phone, the 1680, and I really, really, really dislike it. LOL! But, I was warned here, though! I guess I should have listened but my previous phone broke and I needed to get something quick.

I hope I can obtain some info about using unlocked smartphones!
