Yabbut the OP said his phone is already unlocked.

I'm not disputing that "there are actually a few functional changes [that flashing firmware] can do" but rather that they're not particularly useful to SO users.

Reality check: Apart from removing the sort of AT&T "annoyances" that come with a branded phone there is no functional need to mess with the firmware, no need to take the risk of "bricking" the phone and no need to break the law.

My first unlocked GSM phone was a Samsung that was branded to T-Mobile. I actually found some of the branding to to be funky but it never interfered with my use of that phone with a variety of SIMs, none of them from T-Mobile.

I have alot of knowledge in flashing firmware. Its possible to do it. The only problem is, is that the only program that does it properly is proprietary of Motorola thats only given to staff. It is possible to download it but if you screw up its hard to fix. And its also illegal

What you have is called a branded phone. In this case the firmware inside the phone has been customized for AT&T. That is why you see all the AT&T-specific stuff. You can get rid of the customization by finding and flashing generic firmware for this phone, however, I have no idea where and how, etc. By doing so you risk damaging the phone altogether unless you know what you're doing.

That said, the phone will still work just fine for making voice calls and texting on SpeakOut, but not general web browsing, a feature that SO does not support.

And AFAIK SO's website for ringtones and games, etc. is intended only for the phones that SO sells, i.e. Nokia. You can configure the RAZR to display that website, however, there's nothing there for you to see or do.
