Today I activated UMB with success. I made sure my settings were correct, then turned my iPhone off. Used a landline to call CS and activated UMB. I waited a few minutes, turned the phone and cellular data on. BINGO! It now works.

After having the same problem for a month I finally got it to work. The key is to activate UMB only if you can get 3G signal. If you get the "Could not activate Cellular Data network" or similar message before you activate UMB you should be safe to do so.

I had mine refreshed 3 times and it never connected. I had it before so I know it is not an issue with my phone. I also emailed for help and all they said was to try it again sometime.
To their credit, they gave me my $10 back, but only because I had called in within 24 hrs.
I don't know if their invitation to try again meant anything - I am going to wait a week or so then try again. I'll keep you posted.

I let my UMB lapse in February, and renewed in March. I know it took more than 15 minutes to activate, but when I turned on the phone some hours later, I got UMB.

If it does not work out for you, you should probably give a call to a Speakout CSR, and see what they can do.

It seems like in the past month or so I have seen more than a few posts about people activating the UMB plan and being unable to get it working. This includes people that have had UMB in the past but let it expire, so in some cases it appears that it is not a configuration issue. Others have had this problem with Speakout branded phones as well.

Has anybody successfully activated data in the past few weeks? I'm just nervous that if I accidentally let the UMB plan lapse in one of my phones, that I won't be able to renew it!
