Before I throw out the cut SIM, I would place some scotch tape along the edge contacts of the SIM (or tape along the metal part of the SIM tray). This will prevent the tray from shorting out the contacts. I think the iphone 4s SIM tray already has that insulation tape, but not the iphone 4.

I guess a sim cutter would be the wiser option, its just a hassle having to order one and wait.. I may just try cut another one, Im just still very unsure what actually went wrong..

I would suggest buying a SIM cutter rather than doing it by hand. Its a little more precise.

well when you put SO sim card in so what was your iphone said "no service", "no sim" or "invalid sim"

Have you tried another "working" sim to see if the phone is actually working?

I have followed the steps clearly and correctly to my knowledge for the cutting procedure.
