Delete your current configuration. Then create a new account, but do not select Gmail, choose Exchange instead. Pump in your account info there and you'll be good to go.

I have a Gmail account and can access it with Safari, but I cannot get my mail using the "built in" mail app on the iphone (3G) when using SO. It works when I use it with a wi-fi connection, but not when using just the SO data plan. When using Safari I can get my mail either with SO or wi-fi.

Is there a setting I'm missing on the iphone to get it's built in mail app to work with SO?
