What he was referring to, I think, was AT&T permanent unlock available from sellers on a certain auction site.

If it has to be AT&T, those are your options. Get a Rogers locked one to avoid all this. Or of course a factory unlocked one.

it won't work without unlocked your iphone 4s. You can unlock free from AT&T if you are under contract with them

or you can buy unlock on ebay very cheap

however, the new so call auto unlock(i.e. it dials 112 for you) has it own issue. In that at times, it would fail to unlock and needs a bit of stunt to re-do it(needs to carry the small pin all the time).

I would suggest to pay att and get it unlocked.

iphone 4 and the gevey ultra(manual 112) is actually easier as it works every time i have tried.
