Does it make phone calls, and have a touchscreen phone? Sure. Does it use the Apple operating system, or ANY smartphone OS? Doubt it.

I'm sure it works ok, but it depends what you want in a phone.

Rui said:

So i have a first gen UNLOCKED iphone running 2.2 with a speakout SIM, and it's been working fine for quite a while....

I just recently tried the SIM in a locked ROGERS 3G iphone running 3.0, and i couldn't get a signal...it said network not available...

Is it possible that the 3.0 software has disabled speakout as an option on rogers iphones?

hmmmm....just an afterthought.... perhaps i'd have to go into the iphone settings to manually switch it off of the 3G service?

Yes, you need to disable 3G in the settings before it will accept the signal, I had the same problem with my phone.

by the way, Skype credit on a pay as you go basis is good for 180 days (= 6 months). If you use the service only once close to the end of the expiry date, the expiry date gets pushed another 6 months!!! Basically, you don't have a hard set expiry date as on regular phone services.

Awesome on a smartphone.

699+tax, so a lot. But I calculated how much I'd be saving in the long term (I just canceled my land line of $30/month).

After tax it came out to roughly $800. I started using Skype (purchase credit and call landline/cellphone for 2 cents a min), so I can even save money on SpeakOut by using Skype within a wifi zone. Skype alone will same me hundreds of dollars vs 3 year contract w/ Robbers.

Overall, I justified the costs to myself after thinking about all this for a month or so. Better phone, cheaper plans = money in the pocket.

Hope this helps.

My speak out works like magic on it (exactly like on MiG's website). It's so awesome that we can buy these now in Canada w/o a contract :))

Just confirming that this works for anyone interested in dishing out their life savings for a phone.

Cheers
