If an unlocked Tri-Band phone is used, and it has bands 900/1800/1900 will the phone work all the time on the SpeakOut /Rogers network?
or will it be compromised if it does not have the 850 band?
Will it work fine, or will it not have as good coverage (cause it is missing one of the 2 bands that SpeakOut uses?)

If a phone is locked, you cannot transfer a SIM card TO it. If a phone is locked, but you are transferring a SIM card FROM it to an unlocked phone, then that works.

You'll have to look for non-retail unlocked GSM phones (or ones that were on the Rogers network), which you can probably find aplenty on eBay, Craigslist, buysell.com, Facebook, and many other secondary sources.

You'll still have to buy the cheapest 7-Eleven phone in order to get the SIM card (or find someone who will just sell you their SIM card), and then swap it into the other phone.
