Wait minute, I thought you could use a SpeakOut on a Rogers locked phone anyway? Am I misinterpreting what is meant by Network Locked?

Pretty sure that still applies...My previous phone was Rogers, this one was actually Bell. I didn't realize my error until I checked the box.

I just bit the bullet and paid Bridonica. It's unlocked and at least it sees the SIM but it can't connect to the server and I'm getting a "No service (SpeakOut" screen message.

I thought that anything that was a widget couldn't be moved to the SD card? I like the phone fine but I don't really care if I brick it at this point. I would upgrade if I completely messed it up.

You can unlock the Galaxy Gio phone for free. That is how I unlocked my Gio ages ago. Here is a tutorial. http://forums.redflagdeals.com.....st13339850

I found the Gio does not have enough internal memory, and I used a program called app to sd to move most programs to the SD card. You can apparently put jelly bean on this phone and it apparently works very well. The update makes it easier to run everything of the SD card, so you no longer have memory problems. Never did that myself, because I moved on to other phones. But if you are still stuck with the Gio, the update is worth it, because jelly bean is so much better. The menus and wipes are smoother, for example. Only issue is, this is your only phone, I would not want to try this experimental stuff on my primary phone. It is worth the effort, but you could brick the phone also.

I paid ~$5 on eBay, and 1 hour later had an unlock code.

Could you post the link, MegaSlver? I'd like to see if they have my code. (The places that are turning up on eBay want $25-35 to unlock)

I had a similar thing with my Samsung Galaxy SII. It was unlocked and working fine on SpeakOut. I then updated it to the latest Android version and it network locked on me. I paid ~$5 on eBay, and 1 hour later had an unlock code.

The screen doesn't indicate any network...Which is weird (It was Rogers previously) but it shows the message "Network locked".

When I sweep the lock it displays a message saying:

Enter Network Lock Control Key
Unlock
Dismiss

Speak Out says this isn't their area. (Rogers want $50 to provide a code...Not going to happen!)

Hi folks. I had a Samsung Gio that was working brilliantly for my purposes (Calls, checking email/Facebook, text, the occasional pic) but then it said I had no memory and stopped accepting texts.

This was a real surprize because I was clearing out everything regularly (I don't save emails, texts, photos.) and I have very few apps, don't play games or watch videos and all my contacts are on my SIM.

I went online and read that some things just can't be cleared except by reset so I removed the SIM and did a factory reset but now the phone won't even make calls and can't see the SIM.

Can someone point to me where I need to get started to get this up and running again. I've reviewed the site but I'm not processing well. (I'm in a slight panic mode because I no longer have a residential phone as a backup – My cell is my home phone!)

Actually, the reset seems to have locked the phone…May be time to walk away!
