I got my SIM cut down to nano size and have my iPhone 5 running swimmingly with SpeakOut. One little issue--unlike my iPhone 4, where I could disable 3G and let it run on slower EDGE (2G) speeds, there doesn't appear to be a way to disable 3G on the iPhone 5, unless I'm mistaken? I have "LTE" set to Off, but I still see "3G" at top of the screen.

So I guess I have a couple of questions:

1. Does having it run on 3G all the time hurt battery life? On my iPhone 4, it did. I was able to extend battery life significantly on the iPhone 4 by disabling 3G.

2. Does the iPhone 5 even have a way to disable 3G, or is that the minimum speed we're stuck with?

3G on modern phone is not that hard on the battery life. Probably still measurable compared to 2G, but nothing you would care about.

I do not know it there is a 2G setting on the iphone, so I cannot help you there.
