I'll keep in mind the "Reset to Default" trick. I did something else with my Google Nexus.

I changed my old UMB APN to the new published settings and it worked at first, then when I went in airport mode and came back, Internet access would not return. I tried rebooting the phone and a few other things and nothing worked. Eventually, I changed IPv4/IPv6 to IPv4 only and that did it.

If "Reset to Default" doesn't work for you, try this and it might work.

Nothing worked on my Samsung Google Nexus until I did this…
On the "Access Point Names" screen there are 2 menu settings options:
"Add APN" and,
"Reset to Default".
Clicking "Reset to Default" made my previously created (rogers-core-appl1.apn) start working without having to re-enter it. Hope that helps somebody.
The speed is fine (~ 8Mbps).

I tried different suggestions on my galaxy tab 10.1 tablet and nothing worked till I did exactly what your post says ..
Thanks marvis

Ok so after using the 3G data plan for a month, I upgraded my android to a 500 MB value plan just now... So to upgrade to that value plan, I had to deactivate my 100 MB value plan. To my surprise, the problem of disappearing 3G data has come back again. Now I have a 500 MB data with NO internet connection. The 3G icon on my android is GONE as it was the problem before. This is very frustrating.

Speakout seems to have a problem with their system now I can't even connect to the internet. I don't want to reset my android every time I want to friggin change my value plan. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP. I'm on customer service hotline but they know nothing about their service. Speakout is stupid.

Wrong… Google Nexus works fine (~8 Mbps in Chilliwack, BC). '3G' or 'H' appears beside the bars.

I recently was able to get Data working on my Nexus S that I brought over from Mobilicity. Oddly, the official Speakout APN settings does not work for me, but the Rogers APN as well as the internet.com APN does. Once I enable data with the check mark it takes a few minutes before a letter "E" appears above the antenna bars in the notification. Also, I ran a speedtest.net and found data was slow: ping 500ms, download 120kbps, upload 105kbps. Spoke to Customer Service, and they told me speed was handset dependent. Does anybody know if I can get better data speeds with Speakout on my Nexus S Android 4.1 ? I'm in the greater Vancouver area.
