I have the Blu 4.0L as well. Speakout never updated the firmware (still at Blu_A010L_V02_SPEAKOUT_CA 10-10-2015 11:42) or the android (still at 4.4.2). Is it possible to upgrade both to the latest versions? If yes - I'd appreciate the info on where to get the new firmware & the newest android and a guide on how to do the upgrade on your own.

They finally released an updated ROM - I don't know the exact date, but mine is dated Nov or Dec 2016. Flash from a computer and it seems to fix the boot problems, battery problems, and wifi problems. Good as new. Actually better than new - because now they work!

Just as a reference. My wife's BLU quit charging and quit powering up after about a year. We bought a replacement because she was used to it. 2 months later her wifi quit working altogether on the new BLU 4.0. Just spent an hour on the phone talking to CS and then a CS superviser who had to confirm everything over again before approving an RMA. So we get to send the phone in after spending an hour and also about 1/2 dozen emails. Hmmmm $49 phone replaced by customer spending $20 on shipping and a few hours with customer service. No wonder most people would just throw it out.
About a year ago my sister-in-law got a replacement because her wifi quit(at least that was warrantee also).
I WOULD NOT BUY A BLU PHONE.
Not good phones in this part of the world!
