Hi, can anyone tell me if this phone was sold as unlocked? My mom in another city tried to put a different sim card in and received a message that said "invalid sim", which suggests that it's locked. I messaged speakout to request an unlock code and they replied that this model was sold as unlocked.

Can anyone confirm? Thanks!

If it's just for 911, I don't believe you need a sim card at all. Any cell phone is capable of phoning 911 without a sim. This would mean that you don't have to subscribe to any cell phone plan. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I have a Alcatel A392A. I do not remember seeing if there is any lock feature, it just works.

The phone kind of has a slight flaw when it comes to dialing though. The send and end buttons are slightly below the lettering, and is not intuitive. Not a big deal to figure out, but it was something I noticed.

I like my LG A341 flip phone better as a phone, although the Alcatel A392A is probably a better phone.

Does anyone know if the Alcatel A392A flip phone automatically locks after a certain amount of time? My elderly mother doesn't like the locking feature on her current phone and wants a cheap phone that she can immediately flip open and dial 911 if, for instance, a cougar attacks her while she's walking her dogs. . .

Thanks for any info!
