The problem jubes is describing sounds awfully similar to another user who purchased a Rogers branded Nokia C3 a while back. It doesn't appear to be a screen saver issue, but rather an issue with the Rogers branded C3 being unable to recognize/accept the Speakout SIM for whatever reason. Unfortunately, there was no follow-up post on the issue.

Here are the two posts that mention this particular issue:

https://www.speakoutwireless.ca/speak/phone-features/rogers-selling-nokia-c3-prepaid-for-89-99/#p20164

https://www.speakoutwireless.ca/speak/phone-features/rogers-selling-nokia-c3-prepaid-for-89-99/#p20166

The strange thing is that other users (in the same thread) have reported no problems using their Speakout SIM in a Rogers branded Nokia C3, so the only option might be to exchange it for another one at the store.

Hope that helps.

Hello. My phone seems to be activated. I can dial out, I can dial in, I connected to *777.
I put the SIM in the C3, and it blacks out quickly after starting up–it either blacks out or shuts down completely. If it only blacks out, it comes back every 30s for only a second. The screen is generally white with some perimeter markings, such as the time.

Without the SIM, the C3 is quite active and colorful.

Any idea what is going on here?

Also, is it supposed to say "ROGERS" at the top of my SO 1661?

Activate your phone with the IMEI of the Nokia 1661. After that you can put the sim in a C3. The Nokia 1661 will still be sell-able afterwards. A phone's IMEI is not locked to the number. A wireless carrier does not know what phone is being used when the phone is making a call. It only checks to see if the sim card is valid.

Hi! I am replacing a phone I lost a while ago. I haven't been wanting any SO phone that was offered, and read on here people were happy with the C3 phone (expandable & has wi-fi!!). I had purchased both an SO phone and Rogers C3, and have yet to activate anything because...

1) I see the activation instructions on the SO phone involve the IMEI # of the phone.
Does this affect where I can use my SO SIM??

Details: I am going to have my old number and its balance transferred to the new SO SIM, and am wondering what the IMEI # has to do with it. If I provide the SO IMEI, will the SO SIM work on the unactivated Rogers phone? Will the Rogers phone fully work, as dictated by the SO SIM? (Do I need to activate the Rogers phone first at all?)

Or, should I provide the Rogers IMEI??? (Would SO take the Rogers IMEI?)

2) I may consider keeping the 1661 just for its small size, and swap between the two phones, depending on situation. If the IMEI is not a problem, then I assume this wouldn't be a problem. If the IMEI is locked to the number, then--theoretically--I would just call up SO customer service and register which phone I want to use?

3) If I register the SIM with the SO 1661, will I be able to get rid of the phone? It won't render it useless if the phone is using the un-partnered SIM??

Sorry if I'm making a mountain out of a molehill, but that IMEI has thrown me for a loop.
I've read on here that people just drop their cards into the C3, and its works.

Thank-you!
