Just buy $100 in air time to get a "free" 1600 phone. Use the SIM from that and either keep the 1600 as a spare or flog it separately on eBay.

I bought $200 in airtime to get two 1600s. My wife uses one phone. I use a Motorola quad-band phone with the SIM from the second 1600. The second 1600 is now just a spare in case the first one malfunctions or the battery dies, etc.

As far as I'm concerned people should wait for these "free" phone deals and then buy airtime. That way they get free phones and SIMs that they can flog on eBay or keep as spares.
