Like lanark6 said, I gave Dave P the benefit of the doubt, and hoped he would help. I e-mailed him to discuss some alternatives that would be acceptable to both of us.

I just never expected such a frustrating problem in the first place, no one else seemed to have a problem just buying the sim card in this forum so I felt pretty safe in doing so. And SpeakOut customer service just stonewalled any of my suggestions to unlink my sim so I could use it and just kept saying it was a problem with the sim card.

In the end, Dave P refused to refund the $30 or switch it for a working replacement saying there was nothing he could do. I did place a dispute with Paypal for an 'item not as described' but the refund was refused by the seller and the dispute was closed. I'm still a little confused as to why the dispute was just closed and there were no alternative choices like mailing the sim card back to the seller for a refund.

I placed a chargeback through my credit card, I just hope it sticks and that they're on my side of the dispute.

I hope by putting this out in the open someone learned from my experience and saved themselves some grief.

The good thing is, if he's in say Vancouver BC and you're in Toronto, ON and you file the court claim in Toronto he'll have to fly to Toronto to defend himself.

I wont a $100 + court costs case once with a guy i did a transaction over the internet. The guy didn't bother showing up.

I can mail you the sim card and you can provide a refund or a working replacement.

That's awful! Has Dave P refunded your money? I was fortunate when I purchased my PCan card on this site (by mail) this summer. The fellow was as good as his word. Benefit of doubt - maybe Dave didn't know there would be a snag. Good luck with your effort. It would be interesting to know the outcome.

I did give them the Sim card number if that's what you mean. I spent a good 15 - 20 min on the phone with them arguing and they said it was the person who gave me the sim card as it was a problem with the sim card.

They can't change the phone number b/c as the number is connected to 2 sim cards they would affect the other person's service so they can't. And since I'm not a SpeakOut customer, which they repeated many times and which I argued (I have the sim card don't I?), they won't help me.

So I paid $30 for a invalid sim card and no service to help me because the sim card is invalid.

I can mail you the sim card and you can provide a refund or a working replacement.
