The service is for Petro Canada is very similar to Speakout's. Even the APN settings are the same. I don't think there's anything illegal with doing this…Petro doesn't outright say that you can't use a non Petro-Canada phone, but they do say that they can't help you with phone settings if you're not using one of their phones.

f) I have a new Petro-Canada SIM card, and have added the Unlimited Browsing but it still doesn't work.
It is possible that your handset does not detect the correct settings to access our browser. Also, there are some handsets that do not work with our browser. Refer to the settings for the APN:

Most android phones should work...might want to double check in the Speakout forums to see which models people have used. Most iPhones should work as well (there was a problem with the iPhone 3G not connecting to the internet, but that may be resolved).

ok i know this is most talked about on here, but i was wondering i mean i know i hear people saying that they are able to use android phones and even iphones and access the web browsing, now i was wondering how does that work, and does the company even allow such things. i am looking for a decent phone plan to sign onto, and i am looking into this whole unlimited browsing things, but i guess some say its for non smart phones. i know rogers has a plan like it also but i bet they don't allow the things that people do on petro. can i really browse the net like the plan sais on an android. or would i have to go through settings, and can any one confirm if petro is ok with people doing these things. i just don't want to get myself into trouble somehow and do anything illegal ?
