Agree with what you think of ttige's situation, starter & Bylo.

PetroCan stated in its website that it won't accept the airtime vouchers of other providers including Rogers, so I believe 7-11 Speakout is doing the same. After all, they are competitors at least now.

Perhaps ttige wants to use his PetroCan point to buy air time, AND wants to get the 365 expiry day for the air time.

Then buy airtime from PC in $100 increments.

It's also possible that ttige doesn't live near a 7-11 so it would be more convenient to buy airtime at PC. Unfortunately that won't work. However since Ztar provides that airtime to both companies I suppose it wouldn't be hard technically for PC and 7-11 to enter into some sort of reciprocal agreement where they can sell airtime for each other's customers in areas where only PC or only 7-11 operate.

Then you are saving at least $5 a month by going with 7-11 or PetroCan. With Telus you have to pay $15 a month every month. But with 7-11/PC, you only pay for the minutes that you actually use. PLUS - if you refill your account before your airtime expire (365 days for 7-11, 180 days for PC), then your remaining airtime carry forward and get added to your refill amount. Try getting that from your current Telus contract!

- Petro Points --> dollar amount of airtime refill
- 30000 --> $20
- 75000 --> $50
- 145000 --> $100

I fill up gas at Petro Canada atleast once a week averaging $35.00 each time which gets me 350 Petro Points (This is sure to rise with current gas trends)

Plus every time you purchase airtime from Petro Canada you get double the petro points: Buy $100 worth of airtime and you get 2000 Petro points.

Costwise, both are the almost the same. They both cost 20 cents a minute for local calls, and 7-11 is cheaper than PetroCan if you use less than 12 minutes a month. Even if you use all 50 minutes a month, it will cost you $10 a month with 7-11/PC. Compare this to what you are paying telus: $15+system access fee+call display fee+voicemail fee.

So like Big Ang said, choose based on how convenient a 7-11 or PetroCan store is to you, and which one has the phone you like.

If you can live with only 50 minutes a month, the chance is that you are not going to use your cell phone much. With 7-11, you can refill minutes which expire in a year for just $25.
