Well, I really want a Speakout phone...but I have to take the bus and travel to buy airtime (when I run out). With Petro, I can walk to the gas station and you get Petro-Points.

Also, with Speakout...you have to dish out the $100 (plus taxes) for the promotion upfront. With the Petro promotion, all i have to pay right now is $55.00 (and I have a $25 gift card from my birthday that could use). But the 365 expiry really makes me think and the fact that incoming texts are now free with Speakout.

Not sure of which to go for?

I have a PC phone, and I am going to dump it as soon as the $100 promotion at SO starts. With PC, my cost works out to $75 per year ($25 every 4 months) - I don't use a lot of minutes. With SO, my cost can be as low as $25 per year. Since my daughter uses her phone more than me, I will give her the $100 airtime and buy another $25 for mine.

If for some reason the PC phone is still the best choice for you, you can buy airtime on their website.

So, is this deal worth it? Or is the promotion with Speakout starting November 16th still a better one?

It depends on your needs. If you want a 365 SIM then SO is better. If you use up $25 airtime quickly then PCM is better.

And of course, if you want to browse the 'Net on a cellphone then $8/month beats $40,000/GB. Then again, if ztar was able to negotiate reasonable rates with Rogers for PCM then they should be able to do likewise with SO. Stay tuned.

Added: According to PCM's website, $8/month is a promo rate. After the first month it's $10 for 30 days. Still good, but not as good as $8.

My other SP phone expires on Dec 2009. So I will buy that one i Dec.

I love Petro-Canada because they have so many outlets near my house. I can walk to any gas stations in any direction.
