I have read from some other posters that the 3g will occasionally go away for a couple hours up to a day, but it has always come back so far. Mine is currently working fine, but I'm in Edmonton.

I'm currently using Petro on an Android phone, and I haven't had any issues with applications not working due to blocked ports, which was a problem before the changes. These are the only fields set in my APN for data:

APN: goam.com
MCC: 302
MNC: 720

To expand on bridonca's post, VOIP does work for me, but the latency/jitter over the cell network may make it poor quality/unusable anyways. If you switch to the $49.95/month plan this month, it seems to be including Canada-wide long distance at the moment, so that may negate the need for VOIP anyways. I switched to it this month, and have made several long distance calls to other provinces without being charged for long distance.

Currently, You can get decent results with the proxy removed. Most things work. VOIP is hit and miss.

Just keep in mind that the restrictions can be re imposed, so it would be unwise to make your decision on these features.

Has anyone tried to remove the proxy to see if Petro has full browsing like Speakut currently has?

Do apps like MagicJack, Skype, facebook, Mail, iMessage work with the proxy gone?

I do not have a Petro SIM but will buy one if someone else confirms that the apps above work properly in 3G

for 49.95 if it includes data/calling/text would be the best plan available if ports are not blocked!
