Its good that the problem was sorted out.
Clearly he asked you which phone you have and you said Rogers.
That's the confusion. You never clearly said/insisted to have PetroCanada top-up.
When I purchased $25 for the first time the lady clearly said its $25 for 3 months etc for PCanada phones.

EDIT: you can fill up online also.

I did that when I was on PCM. Luckly I noticed it just in front of the store and came back in and after a few minutes of "no you told me you want rogers, no I told you I want PCM" he took the airtime back and gave me PCM.

So, I went back to the gas station. He did tell me that it could not be returned.

But luckily, he said he uses Rogers and said he would buy it from me and then sell me the correct minutes.

It was really good customer service. I am not sure if he was the owner of the gas station or not, but I want to call his boss and tell him he is doing a great job. =)

Yeah, you got leverage then. The last thing these companies want is a credit card charge back. Let them know you paid by credit card. I think you will then bew pleasantly surprised on the response. 🙂

Thanks for the replies guys. That was only my second time buying minutes, so I didn't know all the ins and outs. Will be more careful next time.

I'll let you know if I happen to get my money back.

As a last resort, I might call VISA to dispute the charge. =p

You can try getting a refund at the store, just to say that you tried, since it's not going to work.

I'd then call PetroCanada's customer service/head office (not PetroCanada MObility's customer service), and complain to them. Who know, you might be successful.

If that doesn't work, you can try selling it at a discount on Ebay or craigslist. Getting half the amount back is better than none.

Yes, he sold you the wrong pin. You should have bought a Petro Canada Mobility pin, not a Rogers.

Not a chance at a refund. Airtime refills are never refundable.

So I went to Petro Canada to buy some air time minutes because my minutes are going to expire soon.
I usually get the $25 for 3 month.
The guy tells me that there is no 25$, only $10/$20/$30/$40 or $100.
He asked me what carrier, I said Petro Canada. He said no, Fido/Rogers? I said Rogers since my phone is locked to Rogers.
I get home and see that $10/$20/$30/$40 are only good for 30 days and that there are no refunds on PINs.
Was I sold the wrong thing?
Also, do you think I would have a chance at a refund if I was sold the wrong thing?
Thanks!
