The only plan at Rogers was "Anytime" with .40/min and min. topup $10. No mention of yearly cost. No info about how it works. I'm not even sure if the Rogers sim will work in my phone (assume it will if at&t does)

We also have a Bell prepaid phone - topup $100 before annual expiry date retains credit. It has roaming and can be used in the USA.

I can buy a SO sim as well as $100 credit from people in the phone forum. Why doesn't SO offer online purchase of credit? Then once you have the sim it wouldn't matter there are no stores.

What is wrong with rogers? I think you are pretty much stuck paying $100 for a year's service. These are your options, as I see them

Petro Canada. $100 for a year service. $59 for cheapest phone and sim 25 cents a minute. $1.25 monthly system access fee. Available all over Canada

Good2go. $100 for a year service. $59 for cheapest phone and sim 25 cents a minute. $0.99 monthly system access fee. Available in eastern Canada and the maritimes.

Speak out, $25 for a year service. $59 for cheapest phone and sim 25 cents a minute. $1.25 monthly system access fee. Available only in areas with a 7-11 store.

Rogers. $100 for a year service. As low as $7 for the sim Choices galore http://www.rogers.com/web/cont.....ucts/plans all over Canada.

I believe good2GO mobile is the same service as SpeakOut under the hood (ztar mobile). The rates look the same as well:

You should be able to find them at Quickie convenience stores in eastern Ontario:

I have an unlocked smart phone with an at&t sim - not usable in Canada. I discover there are no 7-elevens in eastern Ontario so speakout is not available. 😥 I also have a Rogers sim that has never been activated.

I have very low volume mobile phone needs and can live with wifi until data plans get cheaper. A yearly pay-as-you-go would be ok. 30 day expiry is not ok.
Any advice would be welcome.
