As long as you use Roam Mobility's service once a year, your SIM card remains active. After 365 days of inactivity, the Roam SIM card expires.

Since you can specify the date and time when you want a top up to start, I contacted Roam whether topping up before the expiry date (say the expiry was Aug. 25th) and selecting a later startup date for the top up in Sept 2013 (after the 365 days), would the SIM expire.

Their response was:

"Nope your SIM will not expire if you top up before the expiry date for a later date in travel!"

Handy tip if your travel plans do not always occur within 1 year.
