Didn't Arial have Qualcomm's CDMA? It would be funny if that s where they got it and they come out with a tracking stock............ 40.00 unlimited talk and text is perfect for me even if no other phones use those frequencies to talk or send data ll day long. I guess it will drop some calls during ramp up, but so what? I can talk all day long to my workmates because the walkie talkies batteries die after a few hours..........

If they go below 40.00 for unlimited there won't be any customers left.

The network comes from Qualcom's CDMA junk bin. That is not to say it won't be reliable, but it is old technology. The up side is the gear was probably cheap. The frequencies Public Wireless bought were cheap, because no one else bid on them. No one else bid on those frequencies because no phones in the world use those frequencies. The only expensive part is the phones, they have to be specifically made for Public Wireless, so it is rather doubtful there will be much selection any time soon, if at all. I suspect the prices will go down sooner than later, and the reason why it is as high as it is, is that they are ramping up, so there is no point in getting a flood of customers right now if they cannot service them.

They probably plan on expanding, but I don't travel much so it's good for me. The frequency might be because of the other busy ones, maybe this will allow changing SIM cards so we can buy just the SIM like others?

I have to buy this if no one else will do it. 🙂

The coverage is rather limited, and the phones (because they have to use an odd frequency) are limited and basic, so if you compare it to other cellphone plans, it might be lacking.

But, if you're in Toronto or Montreal, and think of it as a landline alternative, then it's great. Just like a landline you get flat-rate local calling, but unlike a landline, you can take it with you. And for what you get, $40 is cheaper than Bell would charge you for a landline.

Not much for coverage, and the phone is not much of a prize. I think they are going to have to lower the price if they want to be competitive.
