I do not know too many people willing to sell their old Bell and PC mobile SIM cards with the unlimited browsing. I pay $100 (tax free if you catch one of the Loblaws sales) for a card, and I have unlimited browsing for the year (25 cents a day) Cannot see myself parting with that anytime soon.

I have the Speakout unlimited browsing also, because I do not want to overuse the President's choice mobile data SIM, because Bell/Telus works pretty mull over Nova Scotia. The Rogers network cherry picks towns and cities here.

What's the difference between this grandfathered browsing and SO UMB? Is it just $100/year?

I think you can get around 5 hours of VOIP yakking using a g.729a codec with 100 megabytes data. I do not know how good it is though. I have the grandfathered unlimited browsing with President's choice mobile, and I was not impressed with the quality of Skype through it. Maybe the 100 meg plan is better.

checked their website, they have data add-ons,
I am not sure how much data will be used by making a one minute VOIP call on data.
and seems they charge roaming fees.

Your options are pretty limited when it comes to the Bell/Telus network. The best prepaid option is to use President's Choice Mobile http://www.pctelecom.ca/LCLOnline/

You can get a SIM card with $10 airtime for $10 at most Loblaws owned stores, like the Superstores. Your best bet is to get a $100 card, because that lasts a year. Occasionally, The Superstores have tax free sales, that is the best time to buy the airtime.

Local calls are 20 cents a minute, and the 911 fee is around 50 cents a month. There are monthly plans, and data plans, but they are not really that good, but might be handy if you plan to make a lot of calls on a given month.

I am on SO+UMB ,and I will not cancel it.

But from time to time, I have to work on areas which is not covered by the Rogers network or weak signal area, where Bell or Telus network working fine.

I did some research on other prepaid service, but still not so sure which one to choose.

I just need some air time for emergency calling and some data for Emails and GPS. I might also use VOIP apps for some lengthy callings.

Could someone give me some suggestions?

thanks
