I doubt you would be able to use Skype or another VOIP with PC Mobile. The unlimited browsing applies only to the websites PC Mobile wants you to use. Plus none of the PC Mobile phones are smartphones - you probably need a smartphone to use a VOIP client.

bridonca
You lost me somewhere.
Are you confusing the phrase "PC Phones" with computer based softphones rather than President's Choice Cell Phones as is the case in the rest of the postings?
Or are you building a "repeater" system either forwarding or bluetooth linking one of the cell phones into the SIP gateway? Your hadrware cost estimate of $300.00 is probably barebones low for a "repeater" system. Then several of your proposed required interfaces either have one time setup charges or recurring monthly charges. You can buy an awful lot of long distance time for $300.00 let alone the recurring charges.
The Preident's Choice system advertises an unlimited browser for $5.00 per month. Why not Skype or Gizmo (or one of several other free VOIP providers) on top of that? $300.00 at $5.00 per month is 60 months so the payback on your hardware soution isn't very fast. Skype Out Skype In, and Gizom in and out are all possibilities that sound cheaper to me than the complexities of your proposal. If you add Fring to your phone browser, it wil access a lot of the more common SIP and proprietary messenger services whether your specific phone supports their protocols or not.

The $.25/day or $7.50/month is unlimited calling for EACH number you want unlimited calling to/from, provided that the number is a PC Mobile number. And, practically speaking, the other person should have that $.25/day unlimited option as well.

Wow. That certainly opens up some possibilities. You can now make and receive unlimited calls for $25 a month with the right hardware, which would cost around $300. If you talk a lot, it is probably worth it.

You need something like this like this $200 Bluetooth SIP VoIP Gateway:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAP.....0297110646

You would also need 2 President's Choice mobile phones. The LG 160 would make a great gateway phone because it does bluetooth and it is cheap at $50. The other President's Choice phone can be anything that suits your budget and taste. This is the phone you will be using, so make sure it is a good one.

You would also need a Canadian voip provider that offers SIP settings. They can be as cheap as http://www.freephoneline.ca which has a one time fee of $50, or others like voipgo.com, http://www.vbuzzer.com, http://www.ciktel.com, acanac.com, and more, with various rate plans and options.

mjbad2: President's Choice offers little choice when it comes to paying for the airtime. $25 for 2 months would be the better of the awful options though. You can top up by credit card, and they offer an option of auto recharging after the balance goes lower than $5. Not what one would call deal though. You can buy $15 and $25 cards at Loblaws stores also.

Peter said:

Interesting deal from PC Mobile:

http://mobile.presidentschoice.....leJun09.vm

If the majority of calls you make are to just a few people within your local calling area, have them all get PC Mobile phones and you all pay ~$7.50 per month each for unlimited calling to each other.

Of course, I've never liked CDMA networks, but this is potentially a good enough deal for some for them to go for it.

Nice find peter. Thanks

What I can't understand is how you can top up? I dont want to spend $15 per month or $25 for 60 days. So I have to pay at least $15 to get advantage of this offer? Anybody explain to this dumbo.
