Major differences:

Rogers supports short codes
Rogers supports picture/video messaging
Rogers charges for incoming text messages without a package
Rogers charges per minute for voice mail left and again for retrieval
Rogers has a real data plan for $10/100 MB or $25/500 MB per month, they have per day or week packages too

For phone calls, it will be identical.

For data, since you don't have to go through the proxy, you probably will get faster browsing, but you are metered.

I like it so far except it doesn't support picture and video messages but that's not a big issue. I know the iPhone 3G is fairly slow overall but would browsing and other uses be faster if I were to switch to Rogers or is speakout pretty much the same considering they are affiliated together.
