I emailed the ebay seller, and 2 gotchas were confirmed. First, you can only get a US number. The second one is a 50 cent connection fee. The connection fee is what kills it for me.

I purchased this for my son who is traveling to the U.S. this month. I plan on swapping this sim with his Speakout sim, which won't work in the States. The package I received included a U.S. number. I don't think that they would offer Canadian numbers, but if your interseted you should contact them yourself to make certain. I don't plan to travel much and this seemed like a cheap way to get U.S. service. Otherwise I would be more inclined to get a T-Mobile card. The only draw back with that is you first have to spend $100 to get a gold plan so as to get a lower rate later on. If your interested, this sim will be used next week and I'll let you know how it worked out.

Beware that several of these international SIMs have gone bust in the past, most recently United Mobile (although they may be back, no one knows), and everyone lost their airtime balance. Nevertheless this is a highly competitive market with many players.
So much for Virgin's wonderful flexibility 😉

Hi there, I was looking through Ebay, and I found this possible gem:
ekit Canada and USA SIM card - 9c/m US + 29c/m Canada
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAP.....0296761872

So far as I can see, there are no other surprises, no 911 or other fees, so the 29 cents is less painful. The card expires in 9 months, which is nice. It uses the FIDO network. For $18 CDN, you get a sim card and $10 credit. You need a GSM phone of course.

My concerns are if there are other fees, and whether I can get a local Canadian phone number. I also checked their web site at http://www.ekit.com/ekit/Mobil.....rvice/ekus and the fee structure on the web site is a bit loopy.

I am in no hurry, I can wait till the summer, but if someone does get this sim, let us know what they think of it.
