People who have CDMA phones left over after switching to SO should be able to sell them on eBay or Craigslist, etc. for perhaps $25 to $50. Such phones would be ideal for people who are on a Bell or Telus contract who have damaged their original phone and don't want to pay Bell/Telus' outragious price for a replacement. Note that ex-Bell phones will only work with Bell and ex-Telus phones will only work with Telus.

Good luck with that.

If it was me, I'd take it back to Telus to see if they recycle old, cheap phones like that one. I don't like garbage like an ancient cheap phone cluttering my place.

The phone is CDMA only. The only time I've seen a dual GSM/CDMA phone is on a high-end business phone like the Blackberry 8830. The Nokia 3205i is nowhere near high-end.

Yes, some CDMA phones do have a spot for what appears to be a sim card, although, obviously it is inoperable, and not activated. I have 3 CDMA phones, and all have a spot where a sim card would go, but as the OP said, they are sealed with a sticker.

They are built that way, because when Nokia mass produces millions of phones, the "guts" (hardware) of the phones might be the same, while the technology and software, of course will be different. It's easier and cheaper for them to put the same hardware in their phones, than to change it dozens of hundreds of times.

Are you saying that there was a place for a SIM in the phone, or not?

If the phone was with Telus, then it would not have a place for a GSM SIM since Telus uses a different technology (CDMA).

Pretty much you can use that phone with Telus and probably no other company, and definitely not Speakout. If you want to go with Speakout just buy a Speakout phone at 7-11 with the current promotion.
