I can give you an answer. It is not possible with the $70 phones Bell sell. Bell's old technology is incompatible, and it's 3G tech is locked to Bell. There is no cheap unlock codes for Bell phones as of yet. SOL sadly.

Without knowing what phone you have, it is impossible to give you an answer. But, if your phone is compatible, at the very least it will need to be unlocked. It might well be worth scrapping it and buying a Speakout phone + a $50 voucher. You'll get $20 off the cost of the phone.

As to your Bell issue, my guess is that you are getting texts from a subscription service like "joke of the day" or something similar. These things can run at about $5 a text and will drain your account before you realize what is happening. I had the same issue with Virgin.

Seeing as you got the phone at Costco, I'd just return it for a refund. They're pretty liberal that way.

I recently bought a pay as you go cell phone at Costco on the Bell network. Service at Costco was terrific. Service at Bell frustrated even the salesman at Costco. Paid $70.00 for the phone that included $30.00 of air time. I've made four very brief phone calls and my balance is down to $12.00.

When someone makes love to me I like to get kissed. Bell doesn't provide the kisses.

Can I buy a Seven - Eleven:yell: sim card and install it in my phone and top it up with $100 that should last me for a year without further hassles?

Ripped off by Bell and going to do something about it!
