You can move your SpeakOut or PetroCan SIM to any unlocked phone, and I believe you can also put them in phones that are locked to the Rogers network as well.

The only thing you have to do is find out how to change the voicemail phone number that is programed into the phone. When I did it I called Speakout customer service and even though my phone was not a Speakout phone, the customer service rep. told me how to change it on a Speakout Nokia phone, and it was the same on my Nokia.

Also, Virgin Mobile uses CDMA phones, which means there is no SIM card, so you're stuck with whatever phone you get from them (just like Telus, Bell, President's Choice, Koodo, etc etc).

I don't think you even have to wait until the time runs out. The sim card can be moved between unlocked handsets or handsets locked to Rogers network anytime.

I am wondering if anyone could help me out:

When I buy the August promo ($100 off + phone), can I move the sim to another unlocked phone when the time runs out?

And then buy some more airtime?

I was thinking about buying the phone for my son. Is the SO a better deal, Petro-Can or Virgin.

Thanks for your help.
