Most companies follow the bar code policy, which is if something is scanned for the wrong price you get your entire purchase for free (to promote bar code use w/o fear of being scammed).

The policy is actually "free up to $10." Nevertheless, it's worth complaining to 7-11 management. If you can't find anyone in Canada, try a polite letter to:

If I were you I'd push to get a complete refund + keep what you've got. Try calling SpeakOut c/s and ask for 7-11's head office info for Canada customer relations...

Not much I can do about it now... who can I complain to? No one..

i work at a location in victoria, when someone wants to buy a phone, say the nokia 1600, it works like this:

>I scan the UPC for the phone (total after tax in BC is $82-something, so lets say $83).
>I print out the UPC for the air time and add it to the phone total (say $25 in time). the total is now $108.
>I push the 'speakout promo' button, which takes $25 off of my total. the final sale comes to a total of $83.

7-eleven advertises it as getting $25 off the phone, but you could see it as either this, or as just paying for the phone and also getting free air time. neat-o?!

Store on Burrard, across St. Paul hospital had Nokia 1600, but they didn't know about the promo. Also, box looked like they kept it outside :D.

One thing I've learned is that I spent half my minutes so far calling people and getting their voice mail to pick up and getting dinged for 20 cents immediately. You have to watch that, unless you actually want to leave a voice mail.

May I ask which stores have you asked that don't have 1600s? I asked the one on Kingsway near metrotown and they simply have none left, even 5200s.
