It might be better as you suggested buying the phone at full price, rather than have many minutes banked that you'll never use, or I would suggest finding a good cheap phone. Currently, I'm using a ZTE phone I bought at Walmart in the US for $20. It's a great phone for the price.

Many thanks for the good information but a data plan is of little use to me. I would certainly play around with it during the 2 free months; but, I'm retired, live in the country (aka the boonies) and rarely leave the property other than to go shopping. If car were to break down, I have CAA on speed dial.

But if you have the balance and get the 2 months free data and pay the $10/month after that for data, if you have car trouble or other anywhere you can look up a tow/service/taxi/whatever and besides the phone is quite good. I treat the data as a safety feature and have used it a couple of times in a few years besides just for info occasionally.

If as you say is true, I guess it would seem to be less expensive for me if I just paid $89.99 for the phone.

I wasn’t sure about the rollover. I have been with 7-11 since Apr 2014 when I bought a SIM card and $25.00 worth of minutes. I topped up the day before expiry ($25 - Apr 2015) and my unused minutes (I don’t use the phone much) were rolled over to my new ‘365 year’; so, I guess that happened because I topped up before the 7-day grace period ended.

I was going to transfer my SIM card and current minutes over to my husband’s phone that will need topping up ($25) in a couple weeks. But if I’m going to pay $100 for 90% minutes I will never use, I suppose it’s best I keep my SIM and current minutes.

I believe it is a minimum 7 day grace period if you go past your expiry date. The unused minutes will rollover when you top up. I would suggest topping up at or just before your expiry date so there are no problems.

Hello to all,

I am interested in the current Acer Z220 promotion (buy for $39.99 + $100 top up). If I don't use all the minutes by the end of the 365 day period, will any unused minutes be rolled over and available until expended in full or are unused minutes forfeited at the end of the 365 day period?? I am only looking for a phone to toss in my purse for emergency purposes and I can't imagine I would ever use up all the $100 worth of minutes in a 365 day period.
